the underworld is a hell on wheels.. bladed aaxte do 400+ dmg on one hit.. and you get there from temple of ages by paying 200gold to the Vioce of grenth but i heard balthezzar is harder.

tho if you get enough rangers you can trap kill them all but it takes time and patience.

I have heard that you can get to these places by visiting any existing statues - not just the ones at the Temple of Ages. Is that true?

Lol... That looks strangely reminiscant of my death. Although, I think I was the last of my party to live (ranger = invincible)

I don't know about the first part. Makes more sense that only the ones at the Temple would grant access and pretty sure they were the only ones that did.

I'm proud to say I survived second to last considering I was a warrior and getting attacked the whole time my team went down. That was from the first time we entered there. Something went wrong with the pull and the Grasping Darknesses came swarming down on us. We had some serious bugs other attempts too, like the doors not opening so we had to restart.

And I also agree that Fissure of Woe is easier, if you don't take in account this incident:
(We pulled 4 Shadow creatures, but alas, another 15 came to their aid...)

haha... i know the feeling. i really love the difficulty of those new areas. hope they never get easier. it's so much fun to be up against something almost comletely impossible that doesn't hamper your progress through the story (like the Wilds did in March).

Grasping Darkness are easy. Really easy for a level 26, it's amazing how weak they are.
Bladed aataxes, on the other hand, are not. Not only that, but ehy are level 28/29, I already forgot which.

It gets worse when you have to fight past 3 invincible (yes, as in >0 damage is impossible) level 30 bladed aataxe-like things guarding a level (34?) dude.

The grapsing darknesses came out after you guys because one of the newbies of the team (which is possible was everyone) went running to the NPC with the " ! " on him like a moth to a flame. This triggers the monsters to spawn (and move around abit), and then probably getting aggroed by etheir the same person (even if he's still by NPC), or by somone else.
It's the aataxes that own the team though. If your team dies to a bunch of jellies, you've got a horrible team.

You go to the Temple of Ages while your country/region is winning at the Tombs and kneel infront of the statues. The representatives of the gods appear and allow you to go one their quests.

Yeah, I made it to the Underworld in the last BWE, I was only lvl 17... you can go out with a party of 8 actually, but even if all 8 were lvl 20, I don't know that they could do much... lol My guess is this is an area I will have to come back to after an expansion and the lvl cap is 40 or something... Im sure there are some sick drops in there though!!

In that first screenshot, I'm betting 10 gold it was a PUG, and someone talked to the ghost lady. No way a team can die from the squids without bladeaxe support. I just can't see how.

If you notice in the first picture I am meleeing a Bladed Aatxe with about 6 Grasping Darknesses around me (four attacking me) and in the second picture you will see that the last survivor, the monk, is being attacked by the Grasping Darknesses and 2 Bladed Aatxe (the second one killed our team while I tanked its buddy).

Edited to add:

Yeah. The Grasping Darkness is only doing 6-15 damage to me per hit in the picture. The Bladed Aatxe however do 140+ to me, and 300+ to casters.
